Voice - the new frontier of search
Voice technology and voice assistants (such as Google Home and Amazon Echo) are growing in popularity fast, and this is having implications for the way we search for information online. By 2020, 30% of all searches will not use a screen. And according to ComScore, by 2020, 50% of searches will be voice queries.
Implications for SEO and marketers
This is going to have implications for marketers and SEO professionals.
One of the main ones is that more attention needs to be given to voice assistants and their potential business applications. My recommendation is for any marketer who doesn't have a voice assistant to get one as soon as possible.
If you do not want to buy one, Amazon frequently has campaigns to encourage people to develop their own apps (skills). Anyone who develops an Amazon Echo Skill in the UK which gets more than 100 unique users within the first month, they actually get a free Amazon Echo dot speaker.
This is a brilliant campaign and a great way to learn more about this technology.
